Frequently Asked Questions

How can you be confident you are choosing the right roofer?

When choosing a roofing company, it’s important to consider not just the contractor’s experience, but also the crew who will be completing the work. Some contractors may sell the job, only to send out inexperienced workers to perform it.

At Kinsall & Son’s Roofing, you can trust that every project is overseen by our family. Mr. Kinsall brings over 40 years of roofing expertise, and his sons each have more than 20 years of experience in the industry. They personally supervise every job to ensure it’s done right.

We take great pride in our workmanship, which is why we confidently offer a 10-year workmanship warranty for all architectural shingled roofs. Our goal isn’t just to make sure you’re satisfied with your roof today—it’s to give you peace of mind for many years to come.

Ensure the company is licensed

The first thing you should verify before hiring a contractor is their license. Licensed contractors must pass a comprehensive exam that covers Florida building codes, wind mitigation, OSHA regulations, and financial responsibilities. In addition, they are required to complete continuing education every two years to stay current with code updates and industry changes. Always request to see a copy of your contractor’s license.

Ensure the company is insured

Roofers are required to carry both general liability and workers compensation. You could be liable for injuries if your contractor is not insured, so ask to see their insurance certificate.

Ensure a building permit will be pulled for the work being performed

All  contractors should pull a building permit when reroofing your home. The permit protects the consumer by having a city examiner inspect the work to ensure it meets all building code standards.

What are signs a roof is in need of repair or replacement?

Water spots on the ceiling, peeling wallpaper, or cracked paint are often signs of a roofing problem. If the issue is simply a leak, our skilled technicians can usually locate the source and make repairs—helping you avoid the cost of a full roof replacement.

Other signs of roof damage include missing, curling, buckling, or cracked shingles. These problems are typically caused by years of exposure to weather and normal wear and tear. Unfortunately, roof issues are often discovered only after damage has already occurred, which can lead to further problems inside your home.

That’s why it’s important to have one of our experienced technicians assess the damage and provide solutions to protect and strengthen the integrity of your roof.

What are some ways to maintain the integrity of your roof?

Tree limbs and leaves are two common factors that can shorten the life of your roof. Limbs that touch the roof should be trimmed back to prevent damage. Leaves left sitting on your roof trap moisture, which can cause shingles to deteriorate and nails to rust. To help extend the lifespan of your roof, it’s a good idea to clear away any standing leaves on a regular basis.
